Social engagement

Befriending, chatting over coffee (going out or staying in), reminiscing, pursuing hobbies (outdoor or indoor), respite sitting for carers and family

My befriending service provides a weekly or fortnightly visit to an individual for a chat, a game of scrabble or cards, reminisce, look at old photographs, play and listen to music, help with completing a family tree.  I will drive to, drop off or accompany to social events such as table top sales, jumble sales, watch a game of tennis, cricket, play bowls, group quizzes, the W.I., Age Concern events, the cinema, ballroom dancing and, if a family member is a carer who would like a bit of valuable time to themselves and a break away from the care routine, I will happily sit with the relative to avoid any anxiety the absence may create
